Mike Tomlinson visits York St John University

On Monday 28 May 2012, York St John University Vice Chancellor Professor David Fleming and student fundraising champion Hayley Jenkins presented Mike Tomlinson with a cheque for the money raised at his graduation ceremony, which was held in York Minster last November.

Staff, students and their families donated over £500 to the Jane Tomlinson Appeal during the ceremony where Mike Tomlinson, trustee of the appeal, received his honorary degree of Doctor of Health Sciences from York St John University.

Mike Tomlinson is the chief executive and a trustee of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, which was established by his late wife, Jane Tomlinson CBE, in 2002 to raise funds for children’s and cancer charities. The charities that have received support from the Appeal are located in Yorkshire, the UK and further afield, and cover areas such as medical research, cancer treatment and specialist care.
